Cretan cookies with Grelia olive oil


Lenten, crunchy, traditional, cookies with Grelia olive oil. The famous Cretan olive oil where it is the basis of the diet in every home, and of course in Crete olive oil is in most recipes for cookies.


  • 350 g of olive oil Grelia
  • 250 g sugar
  • 250 g of water where we have boiled cinnamon and cloves
  • 50g raki
  • 1 kg baking powder
  • ¼ κ γ ammonia
  • 1 kg flour
  • Sesame seeds


  1. Put a cinnamon stick with 10 cloves (cloves) to boil.
  2. Put the sugar with the olive oil in a bowl and mix it well for 5 minutes. Then add the remaining ingredients (flour, ammonia, baking powder, raki, and water), and mix well. We will have a pliable dough. 
  3. We make cookies, and before we put them in the pan, we take a bowl of water and put sesame on a plate. Take the cookies one by one and dip them in water quickly, and then place them in the sesame seeds. Place them in the pan on greaseproof paper.
  4. Bake at 180The for 20'-30 minutes depending on how big our cookies are.
