It comes to us from neighboring Italy and is one of our favorite drinks that we can serve all hours… after food, or for a treat even in the evening for relaxation!

Our ingredients are simply… sugar, lemons… and Cretan raki

So we will need

  • 15-20 organic lemons
  • 1.5 liter Cretan raki or vodka
  • 650 g sugar
  • 650 g of water

Directions

  1. Wash our lemons, wipe them carefully and remove the outer rind of the lemon with a peeler or a sharp knife. We do not put white in because our drink will be bitter. (We can make white Jams)
  2. Take a large jar with a large opening and place the peels inside and pour the raki (or vodka) on top and close the lid. Place our jar in a shady place for 15-20 days.
  3. Then after 20 days we put the sugar and water in our pot and let them boil for 5 minutes. When it cools, we throw it in our jar and leave it for another 5-10 days. Then we take the jar, strain it very carefully with a tulip or if you do not have a coffee filter and put it in your bottles.

We serve it plain or with crushed ice… good enjoyment !!!
