Easter cookies

One of the most enjoyable activities in all the preparations for Easter, is the cookies that we always make with the children. The mother should supervise the children to make their little masterpieces with enthusiasm, imagination, passion and, of course, with tricks. Because the quantity from the cookies until the decoration with the icing is finished, has decreased. Wonderfully crunchy, very fragrant cookies, which flood the house with Easter spices! Mahlepi, kakoule, and Chios mastic !!! After fasting, with coffee on Easter Sunday morning or at the snack bar. They beautifully decorate our plates together with our buns, our cookies or by passing a ribbon to decorate why not our house !!!!

  • 550 gr flour
  • 250 g sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 125 g butter
  • 2 kg baking powder
  • ½ κ γ μαχλέπι
  • ½ κγ κακουλέ
  • Γ kg of chios mastic
  • A pinch of salt.

  • 440 gr powder
  • 4 cups milk
  • ½ κ γ liquid vanilla or 1 pc vanilla
  • Food color
  • We will also need cutters and oil paste.

  1. Beat the butter with the sugar in our mixer until fluffy (they will turn white). Then add the egg whites, beat very well and then the yolks.
  2. Sift our flour and add it slowly, and then our spices.
  3. Leave our dough in the fridge to rest covered with a film. While you rest, make the icing
  4. In a bowl put the icing and the milk with the vanilla and at the beginning beat slowly to incorporate the ingredients and then beat on the fast speed. Divide our icing into bowls according to the colors we want to use.
  5. Then we take our dough and open it on our counter 0.5 cm, while we put the oven to preheat to 180The grades. We take our cutters and cut into whatever shape we want. Transfer them to the pan on greaseproof paper. Bake them until they start to turn brown.
  6. When they are cooked, let them cool well. We put each color in a cone that we make ourselves with oil paste, and we decorate our cookies.
  • Because our cookies are thin, we do not leave them in the oven for a long time. We watch them.
  • If we do not have a cutter, we can draw the figure we want in oil glue and cut it. We place it on our dough and with a knife we cut our shape around the perimeter.
  • We easily make the eggs with a plastic cup that we press a little and it takes the oval shape.
  • Instead of icing, you can sprinkle with brown sugar before baking your shapes to have caramelized cookies on top.
  • Put on a ribbon and decorate your children's works at home. They will feel proud of their cookies !!!!
